St. Agnes Cathedral Wedding, San Francisco Style

This St. Agnes Cathedral wedding moved from a quiet garden courtyard to a full nightclub dance floor in one day. The bride and groom kept the whole celebration close to home, in San Francisco. Portraits came first, under stone archways. Then came a ceremony inside one of the city’s most ornate churches. The night ended with a live band at Swedish American Hall and Cafe Du Nord.

Portraits Under Stone Archways

Before the ceremony, the bride and groom gathered their wedding party in a nearby garden courtyard. Stone archways and a red-leafed Japanese maple set the scene. Bridesmaids wore dusty blue, and groomsmen wore navy suits. Soft afternoon light made for easy, relaxed portraits before the ceremony timeline kicked in.

A Vintage Trolley Ride Across the City

Instead of a car, the wedding party climbed aboard an open-air vintage trolley. Its “Exclusive VIP Tour” signage matched the mood exactly. Golden-hour light poured through the open sides. The whole group rode together toward the church, waving at every corner.

A Ceremony at St. Agnes Cathedral

The cathedral’s interior is dramatic on its own. A white marble altar, a crucifix flanked by mourning statues, and stained glass windows line every side. The bride walked down the aisle with both of her parents. She and the groom exchanged vows seated in carved wooden chairs beside the officiant. Their first kiss echoed all the way to the back pews, and guests applauded through the whole recessional.

Toasts, Cake, and a Live Band at Swedish American Hall

The reception moved to Swedish American Hall and Cafe Du Nord, a historic venue with its own basement nightclub. A saxophone-and-piano duo played during dinner. Then came toasts, champagne, and a three-tier cake. Once the cake was cut, a full band took the stage: trumpet, sax, drums, bass, keys, and a vocalist. The dance floor lit up in red and blue for the first dance, and the night ended with the groom dipping the bride.
