A Vinarosa Wedding Photographer’s Favorite Kind of Day

The light. The color palette. That honey-gold hour when the sun drops low over the vineyard rows. Every so often a wedding comes along that reminds me why I love being a Vinarosa wedding photographer — and why I fell for wine country venues in the first place. This celebration at what’s now known as Vinarosa is exactly that kind of day — this property has actually gone by two other names over the years, Vintners Inn (when this wedding took place) and later Vintners Resort, so wedding photographers around here will always have a soft spot for it under any of its names.

If you’re searching for a Vinarosa wedding photographer — or you still know the property as Vintners Inn or Vintners Resort — this Santa Rosa estate is one of my favorite backdrops in Sonoma County. Between the Tuscan-inspired stone architecture, the courtyard fountain, and acres of working vineyard right on property, it gives a couple nearly every kind of scene in a single day: intimate getting-ready portraits, a garden ceremony, and golden-hour photos among the vines that do a lot of the work for you.

Getting Ready at Vinarosa

This day started slow and warm, with the groom and his guys getting ready over pours of whiskey and easy laughter, boutonnieres of succulents and peach garden roses laid out on the table. Down the hall, the bride was in her own kind of quiet — lace and illusion tulle, a hairstyle left soft and loose with a single flower tucked in, her mom fastening the back of her gown one hook at a time. It’s my favorite part of any wedding day as a Vinarosa wedding photographer: the getting-ready hours, before anyone’s seen each other, when the nerves and the excitement are still just for the two of them.

A Garden Ceremony at This Sonoma County Wedding Venue

The ceremony took place outdoors, beneath one of the estate’s stone-columned pergolas, dressed simply with garden greenery and warm-toned florals — dahlias, garden roses, and touches of burgundy that carried through into the bride’s bouquet. Rows of white folding chairs faced a wall of manicured hedges and cypress trees, and as the couple exchanged vows in the late-afternoon light, it was easy to see why this Sonoma County wedding venue books up as far in advance as it does, and why couples so often ask for a Vinarosa wedding photographer who already knows this ceremony space inside and out.

Golden-Hour Vineyard Portraits

Once the ceremony wrapped, we slipped into the vineyard for portraits, and this is where a Vinarosa wedding really earns its reputation. The rows of vines catch the last of the daylight in a way that’s hard to find anywhere else in wine country, and there’s something about walking a newly married couple down a dirt path between the vines that makes for the kind of photos I still go back and look at years later — one more reason this is one of my favorite Sonoma County venues to shoot.

Reception in the Ballroom

The reception moved indoors to the property’s ballroom, where gold Chiavari chairs, low candlelight, and a chandelier-lit ceiling framed a night of toasts, a live acoustic duo, cake cutting, and a dance floor that emptied out fast once the music picked up. A photobooth kept the party loose well into the night — because no wedding at this venue is complete without at least one guest in a sombrero. Nights like this are exactly why I love being a Vinarosa wedding photographer — there’s always one more unscripted moment to catch.
