Kristen and Evan’s Jefferson Street Mansion Wedding

Kristen and Evan were married at Jefferson Street Mansion in Benicia. It’s one of those weddings where the venue itself becomes part of the story. In fact, this Jefferson Street Mansion wedding took place inside a building with real history — it was built in 1861 as the Executive Officer’s Quarters for the historic Benicia Arsenal. The mansion’s columned, Empire-style architecture photographs beautifully from every angle.

Getting Ready Inside a Historic Benicia Landmark

The morning started inside the mansion itself. Kristen got ready alongside her mom, her bridesmaids, and a flower girl who couldn’t stop staring at the dress. So the building’s ornate staircase and leaded-glass windows made for a getting-ready space unlike almost anywhere else we shoot.

A First Look and Portraits at the Grand Colonnade

Evan waited by the mansion’s grand columned entrance for their first look. Afterward, the whole wedding party gathered there for portraits. It’s one of the most recognizable backdrops at Jefferson Street Mansion — those columns and manicured hedges do a lot of work in a photo.

A Ceremony Beneath the Wisteria

Kristen and Evan said their vows under the mansion’s wisteria-draped veranda. A floral arch matched the colonnade behind them. It’s a gorgeous, intimate ceremony spot, and one of my favorite corners of the whole property.

Dinner and Dancing Under the Tented Pavilion

The reception moved to Jefferson Street Mansion’s tented lawn pavilion. Crystal chandeliers and string lights lit up the night. Then a live band had Kristen and Evan singing into the microphone by the end of it. Between the toasts, the cake cutting, and Evan’s last-minute switch into a white dinner jacket, there was plenty to love. It’s the kind of reception that earns its own highlight reel.
